AS YOUR DEVOTED AND LOVING sister, I have been there for you and Lorenzo Brown from the beginning. And doing for those boys, Russell and Randy, who are now amazing grown men, has always been a priority. However, from the first time I heard that your beloved and sweet husband, Lorenzo, had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, I knew I would never be able to accept his one-day not physically being in our presence. Now that the day has come, I feel like there is a hole in my heart. It is beyond heart-rending to realize that he is not here, after being like a brother to me, and your supportive, protective, loving and wonderful husband for over 46 years, and a great dad and role model to your sons.
I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED and had the utmost admiration and respect for Dr. Lorenzo Brown. He left his earthly body the morning of August 21 to receive his heavenly wings and go hang out with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which, I imagine, we all hope to one day be blessed and able to do. And although I know he is at peace, it is still very hard for me to accept not being able to get him on the phone, or see his always smiling face and his forever zest for life, his family, working on Sister 2 Sister magazine (for 26 years) and going fishing!
HE ALWAYS had the ability to smile and handle any situation with ease when everyone else would be going nuts around him. He was filled with happiness and joy, and if you weren’t feeling that way, he was going to do his best to make you happy and joyful, too. Lorenzo was supposed to be my brother-in-law but he has always been much more of a brother to me and a son to our deceased parents, Peter James and Mamie Lee Foster. I am sure they are waiting to embrace him on the other side, along with other loved ones who love him tremendously — as we all do.
I LOVED HIM to pieces and will miss him terribly because God really broke the mold when He made Lorenzo. I am thinking God said, “There will never be another individual remotely close to this fabulous, one-of-a-kind man that I brilliantly created: Dr. Lorenzo Brown.”
SOMETIMES I FEEL THAT GOD takes some of the nicest people because He just does not want to be bothered with the mean ones. (Oops! Did I say that?) And Lorenzo definitely qualified as one of the nicest on this planet. And now, I feel, he is peacefully hanging out with God, with his fishing pole and tackle box!
Yeah, I said it!
