Attending the 42nd Annual Dante Award Luncheon: Tell the Truth and Nothing But the Truth!

HAD SUCH A GREAT DAY TODAY! This humble retiree attended the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans 42nd Annual Dante Award Luncheon at the beautiful Galleria Marchetti.

This year’s much deserving honoree was multiple award winning WGN-CHANNEL 9 medical reporter/ anchor DINA BAIR. She was definitely the lady in red with her beauiful dress and her stiletto heels, which did not go unnoticed by her beaming and proud hubby, Channel 2’s Lou Kleinberg, who was sitting front and center admiring his lovely Dina, mother of their four children. Her acceptance speech was so inspirational, emotional, enlightening and most of all, she spoke strictly from her beautiful heart!

WGN Midday Anchor and Medical Reporter, Dina Bair

For you see, Dina is a cancer survivor, who is not shy about telling people about her longtime medical challenges and journey and passionately talking about having the love and support of her studmuffin, Lou, and her WGN family, led by her boss, Greg Caputo, who introduced her. She also talked about traveling to Rome to cover the election of the new pope. That was great, but talking about her brave battles to stay alive for the sake of her kids and family was just riveting for sure! The Dante Award is presented to local broadcasters and journalists not afraid to tell the truth and nothing but the truth (my words)!

Dom DiFrisco and his JCCIA staff did a magnificent job and deserves kudos. The place was packed with media stars, family and friends…..but at that luncheon …she was shining like a diamond !

Oh, by the way, I was last year’s most grateful honoree! Here is my photo from receiving the 41st Annual Dante Award in 2012:

Yeah, I said it…..Stella In the City!
